STEAM Edition

by Isabel Mendiola and Peter Haydock

Written with easy-to-use step-by-step instructions and full-color photos and technical diagrams of each project, students and their teachers will find these projects, challenging, engaging, and built to support creativity while teaching engineering design, C/C++ coding, and digital prototyping.

All of the code is included to build the 25 projects and ideas for 135 more project extensions.

There are three kits available for this curriculum. Look for the kit and book bundles that have special pricing.

  • Starter Kit: This six-project kit explore the basics of Arduino Uno microcontrollers through engineering, electronics, and coding. The projects have been implemented in grades 4 and up. Students use LEDs, RGB LEDs, a servo, a passive buzzer, and potentiometer. The project booklet is free for download or buy a copy. Purchase the 240-page curriculum and get extra extensions and how to build the projects in the on-line simulator Tinkercad.
  • Training Kit:  Our most popular option and updated with new projects. This is a 12-project kit using the STEAM Edition. This takes the base skills and adds multiple sensors and new outputs. A bundle with the curriculum is also available.
  • Station Kit: 25 projects with over 115 extensions. Takes your Arduino learning from introductory projects to advanced projects including the pH sensor and robotic car! A bundle with the curriculum is also available.
  • Need a custom kit? Send us a note and we will work with you to make a custom kit for your classroom implementation.

Students have used projects and the skills learned in this curriculum to compete in science and engineering fairs in Mexico. One student won the national science and engineering fair run by CONACYT in 2017 and 2018 with her Arduino® skills.

Another group of students we advised used a sensor presented in this book and with modified code won first place in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow in 2020 and the MIT-Lemelson Award.
